Mark Bunce

International Business Development Director

In our last Meet the Team of 2018, we would like to introduce Mark Bunce, our International Business Development Director. He told us about his trajectory at Tradedoubler, his thoughts about affiliate marketing, the future of the industry and a few facts about him.

How long have you been working at Tradedoubler? Can you tell us a bit more about your path within the company?

I started at Tradedoubler London in the summer of 2015 as a Client Development Manager, having previously come from the client side. My first clients were Morrisons, Accorhotels, Three Mobile, Trainline.com which gave me a broad range of verticals to work with and enabled me to learn a lot very quickly. From there I became an International Coordinator responsible for HP, Groupon, Avis Budget Group and Vistaprint and moved to Madrid for 1 year in November 2017 to work from the Spanish office. I’m now back in London as International Business Development Director, ensuring Tradedoubler grows its international business.

What do you most enjoy about affiliate marketing?

In my particular role I get to travel a lot which means I’m meeting publishers, clients and colleagues from all over EMEA. I get to hear a wide range of great ideas and see a lot of talent from people of all kinds of backgrounds, and that is something I’m very grateful for.

How do you think the industry has changed in the last 5 years?

There’s been a lot of change in the last 5 years in a lot of aspects of the industry. Affiliate marketing is getting a lot more intelligent with the introduction of cookieless and cross device tracking, and is also getting a lot more cleaner with more control over fraud and misuse of data. From a publisher perspective, we see more and more interesting affiliates with new technologies from the likes of Increasingly, Soreto and Revlifter meaning advertisers are less reliant on voucher and cashback.

Where do you see the industry going?

I think we’ll see more publishers such as Savings United and Global Savings Group who will manage offer sections of large publications with huge existing traffic rather than trying to build their own base of users. I would also expect to see more mergers as we’ve seen recently with Awin and Affilinet, Groupon and Vouchercloud, and Quidco and Topcashback.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that the team doesn’t know?

I share a birthday with the one and only Britney Spears.

What’s your favourite holiday destination and what would your next destination be?

My favourite destination to date would definitely be the Ambergris Caye islands in Belize. I made a lot of Latin American friends during my time in Madrid so next up has got to be Colombia or Mexico or both!.

Finally, what advice would you give to recent new entrants?

Talk to everyone you can and never be afraid to ask a question. This business is about relationships, so make sure you are heard and make sure you make time for people.
