Meet the Team: James Maley

 

Welcome to Tradedoubler’s newest team member and returner, James Maley, Head of Partnerships. James will take on network and publisher partnerships, supporting sales and client services.

 

Can you briefly introduce yourself?

I started my digital career in 2006; originally starting at Tradedoubler in client services in 2009 and leaving in 2014 as head of International clients.  I have worked across client services, sales for networks; headed up programmatic & affiliate global teams for a Hotelier and worked technical publisher side across my career.

 

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Being lucky enough to be working in such an innovative and fast paced industry is electric.  Being surrounded by so many smart, switched on colleagues, peers and industry friends keeps me focused in the working day.

 

What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?

Re-establishing our senior and day to day partner relationships with key publishers; making sure that we are delivering a great service and ensuring that we continue to improve the way that we are working with our partners. Day to day I will have routine action calls with different partners, whilst also ensuring the partner team are searching for new partnerships and connecting them with our advertisers. Week two and I am focused on building out improved processes with the way we work with our publishers, ensuring that they have “client” style service and filling in any gaps on programmes.

 

What do you most enjoy about affiliate marketing?

Working on a performance metric means that not just ROI but efficiency as every level is key to ensure that no energy or time is wasted.  Yes conversion and sales are key but also ensuring that connecting the right product to the right customer is also as important, especially in a world where 1:1 connections are considered normal. Our industry has to therefore be innovative and forward thinking and it means we are always trying to improve ourselves and the market as a whole.

 

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

This would have been my 10th year since my first public speaking.  I remember the first time with an old friend here at Tradedoubler funnily enough and we practiced about 100 times.  I was proud to get over my fear of it and now I absolutely love, I just hope one thing that does return to normal is the ability to run digital events, see some our industry speakers and be lucky enough to talk at some events myself on topics I am passionate about.

 

What’s the most recent app you’ve downloaded but are yet to use?

Kapten… Not that exciting but basically a cheaper Uber.

 

What is your guilty pleasure?

Cheese and red wine.  Especially blue cheese…
